My name’s Michael and I run the Knockholt retreat. But, in truth, I don't just run the Retreat. I’ve poured my heart into this place.  And if you’d told me years ago that I’d one day build a glamping retreat, I’d have laughed. Growing up in the UK, camping was the last thing on my mind. But over the years, I’ve grown tired of  the modern chaos that comes with city life and fast-paced careers. Running a nature retreat, giving myself and others the chance to escape the rat-race, soon became a dream. 

 

Then a conversation one day with my family about their unused land sparked the idea for this site. Having spent a good few years in Australia, where camping in the outback is the norm and being off grid isn’t a luxury, I decided I wanted to bring this to the UK.

 

Every bell tent is kitted out with all the comforts I know make a difference—from cosy bedding to saunas and fire pits. It’s all the little extras I wished I’d had when I first went glamping. I’ve also made this a space for retreats, from wellness getaways to boxing camps, because I truly believe everyone needs a break from the grind. I wanted to build a place where people could disconnect from the endless scrolling, emails, and pressures of modern life.  Somewhere close to London but completely secluded—no WiFi, no distractions, just nature, good food, and meaningful connections.
